

A dog-friendly holiday gîte in the Causses du Quercy Regional Park
Gîte des Rêves is situated in a quiet riverside location at the edge of a small rural commune called Cornus', in the Causses du Quercy Regional Park.
Our holiday gîte is dog-friendly and convenient to the beautiful clifftop village and World Heritage Site Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, and many other attractions along the River Lot.
Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is five mins drive away; as is Cajarc, a pretty market town with many excellent restaurants, shops and an excellent weekly market.
Our Holiday Gîte
Welcome to our traditional french holiday gîte in an area of outstanding beauty.
Our gîte has its own private patio overlooking the beautiful terraced gardens; with a grassed area and heated swimming pool with views of the river Lot beyond.
Gîte des Rêves has been renovated from an ancient stone outbuilding by Melody and Dave, into a very comfortable holiday home from home.
We have two friendly dogs and welcome other friendly dogs for their holidays too.
The gîte has been renovated to a very high standard of interior design with a modern high quality German kitchen. An open plan sitting area with french doors leading to its own private patio. There is patio table and chairs and sun umbrella where eating al fresco is a must. See more photos of the garden.

One Double Bedroom

The gîte has one double bedroom
with a shower room and a separate toilet.
It has a chest of drawers and hanging rail for clothes; as well as a quiet area to relax and read a book or catch up on your emails.
The relaxing double bedroom has lots of light, and the window overlooks the private terrace, swimming pool and the river.

Services & Amenities

Dog-friendly
We have two small older dogs, Maud and Maisie. Our guests are very welcome to bring up to two friendly dogs to stay with us.
We ask our guests to make sure they clean up after their dog in the gite and in the garden straight away and provide bags and a poop bin for this purpose.
If your dogs are roaming free around our property we expect them to be supervised.
Our garden is dog safe and has walls, fenced and gated.

Garden
Our Garden is built on a hillside It has three large terraces, with a path leading up to the door of the gite from the top terrace, a vegetable garden terrace, and a grassed terrace that leads to the swimming pool.
They are linked by large stone steps. There are garden chairs on each terrace for relaxing and enjoying the peace and tranquility.
Swimming Pool
Our 8x4 metre salt water heated pool is available to guests throughout their stay daily from 10.30-8pm.
It has a safety cover and this locked out of these hours and at night It is supplied with ample sun beds, tables and umbrellas for sun protection.
Early or late swims by arrangement.

Changeover & Housekeeping
Our guests may arrive from 4.30pm to allow for the gîte to be cleaned thoroughly after the previous guests leave that morning. Guests are requested to depart by 10.am on date of departure for this same reason.
We request our guests to be in touch during their journey to let us know of their estimated time of arrival.
We follow current Covid guidelines and the gîte floors, work surfaces, sinks , and toilets are thoroughly disinfected.
We supply all bedlinen and bath towels but not swimming pool towels
We leave linen bags for guests to place all their linen used in at the end of their stay.
Places to visit and things to do
Cornus is part of a larger community of Cénevières. Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is five mins drive away; as is Cajarc, a pretty market town with many excellent restaurants, shops and an excellent weekly market.
Some of the other amazing sites within easy reach are the Les Grottes de Peche Merle at Cabrerets where you can go deep into the caves and see the prehistoric Palaeolithic paintings on the walls. Bouzies, a short drive away along a road lined with with picturesque overhanging rocks and deep caves where you can hire a small covered boat or cruiser to take a most memorable day out meandering along the River Lot with its many spectacular views of the valley and high picturesque villages. The gîte is situated along the banks of the beautiful river Lot with spectacular views across the valley to the high rugged rocks.
Wineries Tour
There are more than sixty winemakers in the Lot region. Many are within easy drive of the gîte. Examples of these can be found in our welcome pack and tourist leaflets in the gîte.
Cultural Sites
As discussed on our home page there are many interesting places to visit within 5-10 mins drive including the local Chateaux de Cénevières . All details of these will be found in our welcome pack of suggestions.
Local food and clothes markets
There are many local markets within a short distance drive including Cajarc, Limogne de Quercy and Tour de Faure. Further details and times will be given in our welcome pack.
Walking
There is excellent walking, varying from small walks along the river to longer Randonée that form part of the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostella.
Bike Hire
This beautiful region of France is very popular for bike riding and there are several places nearby to hire bikes inexpensively, either motorised or standard bikes.
Water sports and boat hire
There a several places to hire canoes or small boats for spending time on the river as well larger cruises and tourist boats with guides nearby.
